Design Considerations
The fire station is designed to accommodate Herriman City’s desire for a sense of permanence while fitting in with surrounding development.
The client also requested a focus on the acoustic and video capabilities of the community center, which was accomplished with dynamic ceiling plane transitions, exposed structure, and acoustical reverberation studies. The result is a highly functional space.
This station serves as a back-up data center for several agencies throughout the Salt Lake Valley.
Community Training Center
While UFA owns and operates this station, Herriman City made a substantial contribution by donating the land. As part of a community outreach, the large 6,862 square foot training room appendage was designed to serve the needs for both the fire department and Herriman City. Hence this large and open space serves as both a training facility for fire fighters and a community meeting space, where local residents can gather for such important events as elections and cub scout den meetings.
